How Long Will The Average Asphalt Shingle Roof Last?

Katelyn Lewis • June 22, 2022

With around 80% of homes in the U.S. having asphalt shingle roofs, people often ask us how long the average asphalt shingle roof will last.

In ideal conditions, an asphalt shingle roof should last about 20 to 30 years. In reality, most asphalt shingle roofs last between 18 to 25 years.

The range in how long an asphalt shingle roof will last depends on the type of asphalt shingle roof you have, its exposure to extreme weather conditions such as high winds or hail, and its wear and tear over time.

At Retex Roofing & Exteriors, we stand behind our asphalt shingle roof replacements with a lifetime workmanship warranty for every roof we install. And our warranty is transferable up to one time in the event you want to sell your home. We also offer complimentary roof assessments so you can gain peace of mind and knowledge about the condition of your roof quickly.

If you’re a homeowner in the Greater Richmond, VA, area and you want to discuss your asphalt shingle roof, give us a call at 804-442-3314 to schedule a complimentary assessment today.
