Is it better to repair and Paint or replace your siding? Let's review.

When To Repair Your Siding:
- Isolated Damage: If you’ve got a few cracked, warped, or chipped boards/panels in one area, a repair can easily remedy it.
- Minor Fading or Stains: Small cosmetic issues or discoloration from mildew or dirt can often be cleaned or spot-treated.
- Budget Constraints: If a full replacement isn’t in the cards right now, strategic repairs and paint can buy you time.
Note:
If your siding is still fairly new and the material is in production, matching replacements won’t be a big issue.
When To Replace Your Siding:
- Widespread Damage:
If there’s rot, warping, or moisture damage across multiple areas, it’s usually more cost-effective long-term to replace.
- Frequent Repairs: If you’re constantly patching and fixing, replacement will save you money (and hassle) in the long run.
- Energy Efficiency:
Newer siding materials can better insulate your home, lowering your utility bills.
- Curb Appeal & Resale Value: New siding can dramatically improve your home's look and value, especially if you’re thinking of selling.
And if your siding is 20+ years old, it’s worth getting a pro to assess it, even if it looks okay. Hidden issues can lurk beneath the surface.
