FAQs: What We Get Asked The Most About Window Replacement

Katelyn Lewis • May 14, 2025

Thinking about new windows but not sure where to start? You’re not alone.

Retex installed a new roof and new windows for this North Chesterfield VA home in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Here are the top questions we get asked all the time.

Q: How much does window replacement cost?

It depends on size, style, materials, and number of windows you have. While we could give you a ballpark number, we’d be more than happy to give you a free estimate in-person for a more accurate estimate and to discuss your window preferences.

Q: Will new windows really lower my energy bills?

Yep! Modern windows with energy-efficient glass and low E gas may cut your heating and cooling costs year-round.

Q: Do I have to replace all my windows at once?

Nope. At RETEX, we request a minimum of five windows, but you can definitely space out your window project to replace a few at a time or get them all done at once.

Q: How long does it take?

Again, it depends on the window styles and trim you choose as well as how many windows you replace. Because each window has a unique measurement, all windows have to be custom-made, which takes about 3-4 weeks. Once your windows are in, it typically takes our crews about 2-3 days to replace all of a home’s windows.

Q: What kind of windows should I choose?

We’ll help you pick the perfect fit. We offer multiple brands with good, better, and best options to help match your home’s style, needs, and budget.
