How To Replace Siding On A House
Katelyn Lewis • March 20, 2024
Replacing your home’s siding can boost your home’s curb appeal, improve its insulation, and cause neighbor envy.
But how do you replace siding on a house?

Here’s our siding installation process:
- Materials delivered, usually a day or two before the project is scheduled to start.
- Remove old siding and underlayment
- Inspect sheathing underneath for any rot or decay and replace as needed
- Install house wrap underlayment & tape seams as required by code
- Nail in J-channels
- Install new siding (woo, best step!) to manufacturer specifications
- Custom cut edges and corners
Finally, we clean up the yard of debris and nails and haul it all away, leaving a clean yard and new, stellar siding on your home for your neighbors to ogle over.
If you’re a homeowner in Richmond, VA and you are looking to replace your siding, consider Retex Roofing & Exteriors for your project. Give us a call at 804-258-6300 to schedule your complimentary assessment today.

This Midlothian homeowner originally reached out to Retex in October 2023 for a roof repair for a leak in her kitchen as well as a roof replacement estimate. RETEX’s Andy Connor met with her, gave her both quotes, and we repaired her roof. She reached back out to Andy in March 2024, ready to move forward with RETEX on replacing her roof.
