Roof For A Veteran in Spotsylvania, VA – PHOTOS

Katelyn Lewis • January 24, 2025

On Tuesday, we installed a new roof for a local family at no charge. Here's how and why.

RETEX's Caleb Kammerling, Owens Corning's Trey Smith, and Matthew Carver in front of Spotsylvania Roof for a Veteran 2025.

Through Owens Corning’s Roof Deployment Project, we were able to install a new roof for Daniel Carver and his family at no charge on Tuesday, Jan. 21 in Spotsylvania, VA.  As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, we supplied the labor and Owens Corning donated the materials for this new roof replacement.

Daniel Carver is a U.S. Army veteran living in Spotsylvania. He was selected and approved as the recipient for the roof replacement after being nominated by Simply Angels Veteran Outreach, a nonprofit organization that has supported disabled and homebound veterans across six Virginia counties for nearly 40 years.

We also want to give a shoutout to Lee Singleton of Woodchuckers Tree Service, who removed a tree right next to the home's foundation and roof for the Carver family in November 2024 for free.

Thank you to The Central Virginian and Hyperbole for their local news coverage of our Roof for a Veteran initiative.

Doing these roofs for veterans in need is especially sentimental to us as two of RETEX's own have military backgrounds. John Gordon served in the Marines until 2018, and Caleb Kammerling continues to serve in the Marine Reserves.

If you or someone you know is a U.S. veteran in need of a new roof, but who maybe can’t afford it, please reach out to us about our Roof For a Veteran program.

Recoating metal roofs provides a less-expensive option than replacing them, with the coating sealing any leaks, cracks, and seams that natural wear-and-tear causes.
