Roof For A Veteran: Shingle & Flat Roof Replacement in Spotsylvania, VA 22551

Katelyn Lewis • February 28, 2025

Spread some love on the final day of February: Today's Finished Roof Friday showcases our most-recent Roof For A Veteran initiative.

Daniel Carver, a homebound US Army veteran who served in Vietnam, was approved as a Roof For A Veteran recipient through a Purple Hearts Homes nomination by local nonprofit Simply Angels Veteran Outreach.

RETEX replaced the roof on his Spotsylvania, VA home in January 2025. We replaced the sloped roof with Owens Corning "Midnight Plum" asphalt shingles and the flat roof with modified bitumen. As a Platinum Preferred Contractor with Owens Corning, we supply the labor and Owens Corning supplies the materials through their Roof Deployment campaign.

Fredericksburg branch manager and Marine veteran Caleb Kammerling, who continues to serve in the reserves, told new outlet hyperbole that he thinks efforts like Roofs For Vets falls right in line with the company’s core values of faith, family and community and commitment to giving back.

“That’s why this has always meant so much to me. It’s just a way for us to give back to those who gave everything for us and our country,” Kammerling says.

“Community is a huge part of why we got into this.”

If you or someone you know is a veteran who needs a new roof, but may not have the means to afford one at this time, please consider nominating them for our Roof for a Veteran initiative. Go to retexroofing.com/veteran to submit your nomination today.
